Dance Bio
I trained at the San Francisco Ballet School for 10 years under the tutelage of Lola D’Avila. I also studied under Arturo Fernandez and Alonzo King at Lines Contemporary Dance School. I came to the “Big Apple” to obtain my BFA from Juilliard. I have worked with Jeune Ballet de France,San Francisco Ballet, Oberlin Dance Collective San Francisco, Buglisi Dance Theater, the Peridance Ensemble, Chase Brock Dance Experience, Thang Dao Dance Company and most recently Rioult. My own works have been performed in Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center as well as the Juilliard, Cunningham Performance Space, BAX and the ODC Theater. I enjoy collaborating in the creative processes of other dancers, composers and artists.
Crafting
My jewelry has been sold throughout the city at craft fairs and at the Verve. I enjoy making custom designs and supporting the artisan craft. Although I respect designing and sending your ideas to China, I’d rather make pieces for individuals. My favorite memory was selling a woman a pair of earrings to match her wedding dress. I make knitwear and clothing to order. Since I make one of a kind items, I want each one to be treasured. I believe that mass consumerism leads to more dissatisfaction and therefore more waste.
I believe that being a good “artist” is having the desire and technique to create what you envision. To be a great “artist” is to do that with integrity and grace.I am not however saying it has to be pretty.
